How to enable/disable the new Metro UI look in Windows 8 and get back the classic Windows 7 Start Menu

With the new version of Microsoft Windows (Windows 8), came some new features and changes in the look of it. One of the many such features that was newly introduced to the Windows hierarchy was the new Metro UI.

"Metro is the codename of a typography-based design language by Microsoft. A key design principle is better focus on the content of applications, relying more on typography and less on graphics ("content before chrome"). Early examples of Metro principles can be found in Encarta 95 and MSN 2.0. The design language evolved in Windows Media Center and Zune and was formally introduced as "Metro" during the unveiling of Windows Phone 7. Under the name Microsoft design language, it has since been incorporated into several of the company's other products, including the Xbox 360 system software, Xbox One, Windows 8, Windows Phone, and Outlook.com."

Some of us, may however would for some reasons, prefer to remove this new feature. Whatever your reason may be. Here, is the tutorial, to achieve the goal you've set up in your mind.

Step 1: Open Run(Win+R)

Step 2: Type "regedit" in the Run dialog.

Step 3: Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

Step 4: Double-Click on RPEnabled

Step 5: Type 0 in the Value data box.

Step 6: Click OK. And reboot your PC.

Thats it! You're done. Pretty simple, wasn't it? To get back the Metro UI change the value in Step 4 back to 1. However, I would personally suggest readers to keep the new UI intact. This is just a personal opinion and if you are really accustomed to the "Retro UI", you now know how to get it back.
